NAKIAL — A solemn ceremony was held to mark the 78th martyrdom anniversary of Naik Saif Ali Janjua, a national hero awarded the Hilal-e-Kashmir, with Corps Commander 10 Corps Lieutenant General Tauqeer Abbas laying a floral wreath at his mausoleum and offering prayers.

A smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army presented a military salute to the martyr during the ceremony. Participants paid tribute to his supreme sacrifice and exceptional courage in defending the homeland.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir, along with the chiefs of the Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy, also paid tribute to Naik Saif Ali Janjua. Commander National Strategic Command General Syed Aamir Raza also honoured the fallen hero.

The military’s media wing said Naik Saif Ali Janjua displayed extraordinary bravery during the 1948 war, courageously defending the strategically important Pir Kalewa height.

Despite intense enemy attacks, he remained steadfast and continued to defend the position, demonstrating exceptional courage and determination.

The ISPR said his sacrifice remained a symbol of the Pakistan Army’s bravery and resilience and continued to serve as an inspiration for future generations.

The military spokesperson added that Pakistan would always remain indebted to its martyrs, whose sacrifices continued to illuminate the path of defending and serving the motherland.
