Pakistan Marks Eid ul Adha with Mideast Peace Prayers

Pakistan Marks Eid ul Adha with Mideast Peace Prayers

Pakistanis observed Eid ul Adha on Wednesday with a profound sense of solemnity, directing special prayers toward peace and stability in the Middle East amid an escalating regional crisis. Large congregations gathered at mosques and open-air Eidgahs across the country, where the faithful sought divine intervention for an end to the worsening conflict and the broader humanitarian situation.

The day of sacrifice commenced with mass prayers in major cities, including a significant gathering at the Railway Ground in Karachi. Following the supplications, worshippers exchanged warm embraces and Eid greetings, setting a tone of unity before families undertook the ritual sacrifice of animals. The meat was meticulously distributed among relatives, neighbours, and the underprivileged, reinforcing the festival’s core message of sharing and compassion.

National Leaders Call for Unity and Empathy

Pakistan’s top leadership issued messages that intertwined the spiritual essence of the occasion with a call for national solidarity and global peace. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the festival reflects the timeless values of faith and selflessness embodied by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS). He urged citizens to remember the disadvantaged and to share the joys of Eid with those in need.

“Let us strengthen the bonds of unity, brotherhood, and service to humanity,” the prime minister said, expressing explicit solidarity with oppressed Muslims in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

President Asif Ali Zardari framed the day as a reminder that true success lies in piety, service, and empathy rather than material wealth or power. Quoting the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), he stated, “He is not a complete believer who eats his fill while his neighbour beside him goes hungry.” The president stressed that the ritual sacrifice is incomplete without including the deprived, orphans, widows, labourers, and the disabled.

Armed Forces Pay Tribute to Martyrs

Field Marshal Asim Munir, alongside the Air Chief and Naval Chief, extended greetings to the nation, according to the military’s media wing. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the armed forces prayed for lasting peace, prosperity, and national unity.

The military leadership reiterated its unwavering commitment to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The ISPR statement paid special tribute to the families of martyrs, noting that their ultimate sacrifices have fortified the country’s and serve as a guiding light for the nation.

Sermons Highlight Global Muslim Crises

Throughout the day, religious scholars delivered Eid sermons that transcended local concerns, focusing heavily on the spirit of sacrifice and the plight of Muslims facing conflicts and humanitarian disasters worldwide. Clerics urged the congregation to translate their prayers into action by actively supporting the underprivileged during the three-day religious festival.

Special prayers were consistently offered for Pakistan’s economic stability and security, but the dominant theme remained the deteriorating situation in the Middle East. The faithful collectively prayed for a swift resolution to the hostilities and for the safety of civilians caught in the crossfire.
