Pakistan Slashes Kerosene Price After Petrol, Diesel Cuts

ISLAMABAD – In a move providing further respite to consumers, the federal government has announced a reduction in the price of kerosene oil, building on last night’s cuts in petrol and high-speed diesel rates.

The price of kerosene has been slashed by Rs3.58 per litre, according to an official notification from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The new price is set at Rs301.64 per litre, down from the previous Rs305.22.

Breakdown of the Latest Fuel Price Adjustments

This kerosene price cut follows the Petroleum Division’s notification for August 4, which detailed significant reductions for major fuels:

  • Petrol: Reduced by Rs4.08 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs331.95.
  • High-Speed Diesel: Reduced by Rs2.45 per litre, setting the new price at Rs389.93.
  • Kerosene Oil: Reduced by Rs3.58 per litre, now priced at Rs301.64.

The revised prices are effective immediately as per the government’s directives, offering a cumulative relief package to consumers grappling with the cost of living. Kerosene is a critical fuel for cooking and heating in remote and off-grid areas of Pakistan, making its price adjustment particularly impactful for low-income households.

The government’s decision to lower fuel prices comes amid fluctuations in the global oil market and is aimed at passing on the benefit of stabilized international rates to the public.
