Pakistan’s first indigenously developed electro-optical satellite, crafted by the country’s national space agency SUPARCO, has been successfully launched into space from China’s Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the satellite is set to play a pivotal role in crop monitoring, urban development, planning, and various other sectors.
The ISPR spokesperson highlighted that the satellite will also provide critical data on natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, deforestation, and the exploration of oil and gas reserves. A SUPARCO representative emphasized that this milestone marks a significant leap in Pakistan’s journey toward self-reliance and technical expertise in space research. The satellite stands as a testament to the hard work and skill of SUPARCO’s engineers and scientists, showcasing Pakistan’s growing capabilities in space technology.
The satellite is expected to enhance the monitoring of natural resources, disaster management, urban planning, and agricultural development. It will aid in agriculture, irrigation management, crop yield prediction, and infrastructure development, while also helping manage urban sprawl and resource allocation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hailed the successful launch as a moment of national pride, stating that it reflects Pakistan’s advancing capabilities in space science and technology. He noted that the satellite will be instrumental in predicting crop yields and supporting urban development projects. The Prime Minister congratulated SUPARCO’s scientists and engineers for their dedication and teamwork.
The SUPARCO spokesperson further explained that the satellite will provide timely information on natural disasters such as floods, landslides, and earthquakes. It will also play a crucial role in monitoring and protecting natural resources, including mineral, oil, and gas reserves. The satellite is expected to serve as a vital tool for informed decision-making and sustainable development.
This successful launch represents a major advancement in Pakistan’s space technology sector, further strengthening the nation’s space capabilities. Through SUPARCO’s commitment and efforts, Pakistan is rapidly progressing toward self-reliance in space research and technology, marking a new era of innovation and development.
