The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, thunderstorms and strong winds across several parts of the country over the next 24 hours, with Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa expected to bear the brunt of the unsettled weather.
Rain to Begin in Punjab, Including Islamabad
According to the PMD, rain is expected to begin in various areas of Punjab, including the federal capital, from Monday. Islamabad and parts of Kashmir are likely to receive rain, accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in some areas.
Heavy rain is also likely in parts of Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Khushab and Mianwali. Showers are expected in Attock, Bahawalnagar, Chakwal, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Gujrat.
Several other Punjab cities, including Sargodha, Hafizabad, Jhang, Jhelum and Lahore, may also receive rain.
River Catchments and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Risk
The upper catchment areas of the Ravi and Sutlej rivers may receive rain, strong winds and thunderstorms, with heavy rain possible in some places.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, heavy rain is expected at some places in Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Karak, Lakki Marwat and Tank. Parts of Gilgit-Baltistan may also receive rain.
Sindh and Balochistan to Remain Hot and Dry
Meanwhile, most areas of Sindh are expected to remain hot and dry, with similar weather forecast for Balochistan.
The PMD said southern and plain areas of the country are likely to remain hot and humid in the coming days, while rain and thunderstorms may continue at some places in upper and central areas.
