Pakistan is preparing to welcome England and Sri Lanka for a tri-nation one-day international series, with a proposed window from October 18 to November 1. The tournament marks a significant step in Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to bring top-tier international cricket back to home soil.
According to sources close to the planning process, the competition will be split between two iconic venues. Rawalpindi is slated to host the opening leg, with matches proposed for October 18, 20, and 22. The action will then shift to Lahore, where games are pencilled in for October 25, 27, and 29.
Lahore Set for Tournament Finale
The final of the tri-nation series is proposed to take place at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on November 1. If approved, this would be the first time Pakistan hosts a multi-nation ODI event involving England and Sri Lanka in several years.
However, officials stress that the schedule remains provisional. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to hold formal discussions with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) before any official announcement is made.
Sri Lanka’s Extended Tour Under Discussion
Beyond the ODI series, Sri Lanka’s visit to Pakistan could be significantly longer. Sources indicate that the island nation is also expected to play two Test matches and three T20 internationals during the tour. Negotiations are currently underway to finalise dates and venues for those fixtures.
The proposed tri-nation event would serve as valuable preparation for all three teams ahead of major ICC tournaments. For Pakistan, it represents another milestone in the gradual restoration of full international cricket at home, following successful series against Australia, England, and New Zealand in recent years.
