Pakistan Hails Progress on Gaza Peace Plan, Backs Two-State Solution

Pakistan Hails Progress on Gaza Peace Plan, Backs Two-State Solution

Pakistan has officially welcomed the recent progress achieved under the framework of the Gaza Peace Plan, expressing optimism that the diplomatic momentum will lead to the full implementation of all outstanding commitments. The announcement came via a formal statement from the Foreign Office in Islamabad, signaling the country’s continued diplomatic engagement with the Middle East peace process.

Mediation Efforts Lauded by Islamabad

The Pakistani government reserved special praise for the quartet of mediating nations that have been instrumental in facilitating the agreement. The statement specifically acknowledged the sustained and dedicated efforts of the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkiye. Diplomats in Islamabad view the coordination between these key regional and global players as a critical factor in de-escalating tensions and building a durable ceasefire.

“Pakistan trusts that these efforts will contribute to the realisation of the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination through a credible, time-bound political process,” the Foreign Office statement read. The government emphasized that any long-term solution must be rooted in international law, international legitimacy, and the relevant resolutions of the United Nations.

Vision for a Two-State Solution

Reaffirming its long-standing principled stance, Pakistan reiterated that the ultimate objective of the peace process must be the establishment of a viable, sovereign, and contiguous State of Palestine. Islamabad explicitly stated that this future state should be based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) serving as its capital.

The statement highlighted Pakistan’s consistent diplomatic support for the Palestinian cause on international forums. Observers note that the latest endorsement of the Gaza Peace Plan aligns with Pakistan’s broader foreign policy objective of advocating for the rights of the Palestinian people and ensuring stability in the Middle East.

Expectations for Full Implementation

While welcoming the initial positive developments under what the statement termed the “Board of Peace,” Pakistan stressed the need for vigilance and follow-through. The government expressed its clear expectation that the current breakthrough will not merely be a temporary pause but will translate into a permanent cessation of hostilities and the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The Foreign Office underscored that the credibility of the international community hinges on the successful transition from temporary truces to a permanent political resolution. Pakistan pledged to continue its support for all diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
