Pakistani actor Doori Khan has declined a marriage proposal from Indian actress Rakhi Sawant, following which renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Qawi has expressed conditional readiness for marriage with Rakhi. In a recent podcast, a female host asked Rakhi Sawant if she would like to marry a Pakistani cleric, to which Mufti Qawi responded that he is open to the idea, but with the condition of confirming whether Rakhi is involved in any existing marriage. Mufti Qawi further stated that he will not proceed with the marriage without the permission of his mother, who has advised him to seek counsel in such matters and not disclose the details of his marriage to anyone.
Rakhi Sawant, who often makes headlines due to controversies, had recently announced her intention to marry in Pakistan. Speaking to the Indian newspaper “Times of India,” she mentioned receiving several marriage proposals during her visit to Pakistan but chose Doori Khan. In his video statement, Doori Khan mentioned proposing to Rakhi because he knew her well and understood the ups and downs of her life. He shared that Rakhi had embraced Islam, performed Umrah, and changed her name to Fatima, which impressed him. However, he acknowledged that his proposal was not well-received by the public, leading him to reject the marriage due to public backlash.
Addressing Rakhi, Doori Khan stated that she would remain a good friend to him and although she could not become his bride, he promised to make her the daughter-in-law of Pakistan. The incident sparked significant discussion on social media, with various users commenting on Doori Khan’s decision and criticizing him.
