ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s strongest condemnation of recent Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, affirming that Islamabad stands “shoulder to shoulder” with the Kingdom in safeguarding its sovereignty, security, and the sanctity of Islam’s holiest sites.
In a message marking Saudi National Day, observed annually on September 23, the prime minister emphasized that any threat to the security of the Haramain Sharifain—the two holy mosques—deeply wounds the sentiments of Muslims worldwide. His remarks referenced the recent attempted drone attack by Houthi forces on the Holy City of Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
Pakistan’s Commitment to Saudi Security
Extending warm felicitations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the people of Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Sharif praised the Kingdom’s remarkable journey of progress and transformation, describing it as a source of pride for both the Saudi nation and Pakistan.
Speaking from New York, where he is attending the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, the prime minister highlighted Saudi Arabia’s impressive strides toward prosperity, modernization, and innovation under the dynamic leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Deepening Strategic Partnership
Prime Minister Sharif underscored the historic and time-tested brotherhood between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, rooted in faith, mutual trust, and an abiding bond between their peoples. He noted that this relationship is evolving into an even stronger strategic partnership.
