A Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) member of the Punjab Assembly and his wife have been cleared by a cybercrime investigation team in a case involving allegations of harassment and death threats against actress Momina Iqbal, according to court proceedings in Lahore.
The development emerged during a hearing at a sessions court, where an investigating officer from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) submitted a report stating that the arrest of Saqib Chadhar and his wife, Sumaira, was not required at this stage.
Investigation Team Replaced
The NCCIA report revealed that the original investigation team had been replaced with a joint investigation team to conduct a fresh probe into the allegations. Following the submission of the report, Chadhar withdrew his interim bail petition, and the court disposed of the bail applications filed by both Chadhar and his wife on the basis of their withdrawal.
During the hearing, Momina Iqbal appeared before the court accompanied by her counsel, Adnan Ehsan. The actress’s legal representative raised objections to the investigation report, arguing that the NCCIA had changed the investigation team without taking the complainant into confidence.
Complainant’s Counsel Raises Concerns
Ehsan alleged that the new investigation officer had cleared the suspects without conducting a complete inquiry. He urged the court to examine the investigation process and the decision to declare the suspects innocent.
