The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has entered a new era with the grand unveiling of its ‘Infinity’ trophy for the landmark 11th edition. The ceremony took place at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium, showcasing a symbol of national pride and cricketing excellence ahead of the season’s start on March 26.
A Masterpiece of Craftsmanship
The trophy, a tall and sleek golden structure, stands as a testament to intricate design and national symbolism. It features a central body adorned with sparkling crystals arranged in vertical patterns, creating a glittering effect under lights. Two curved golden arms extend upwards, converging near the top where the trophy’s most striking element resides: a crescent and star crown.
This crown, directly inspired by Pakistan’s national flag, consists of a crystal-studded crescent and a polished metallic star. According to the league, the piece required 2,600 hours of work by a team of 18 master artisans to complete. The PSL shared a 47-second video on social media, offering fans a glimpse into the meticulous crafting process.
Expanded League, New Horizons
PSL 11 marks a significant expansion for the tournament. For the first time, eight franchises will compete, including two new entrants: Pindiz and Hyderabad Kingsmen. The season will feature 44 matches played across six Pakistani cities from March 26 to May 3.
The schedule includes several historic firsts:
- Faisalabad and Peshawar will host PSL matches for the first time.
- The tournament will feature six double-header match days.
- The final is scheduled for May 3 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, with a reserve day on May 4.
Tournament Structure and Opening Clash
The defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, will open the season against the Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen on March 26. Each team will play 10 matches in the group stage, with the top four advancing to a playoff series consisting of Qualifier 1, an Eliminator, and Qualifier 2, culminating in the final.
The unveiling of the ‘Infinity’ trophy sets the stage for what promises to be the most expansive and competitive season in PSL history, celebrating both the sport’s future and the nation’s enduring symbols.
