Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will stage a long march toward Islamabad on October 4, party chairman Barrister Gohar Khan said, framing the move as a peaceful exercise of constitutional and legal rights rather than an attempt to disrupt the capital.
Party Chief Says Protest Is a Last Resort
Speaking to Dunya News, Barrister Gohar said the party had been left with no alternative but to take to the streets. He insisted that PTI is a peaceful political party and that its workers would conduct themselves accordingly during the demonstration.
“We are not coming to Islamabad to create chaos,” he said, adding that the party’s demands center on what he described as proper treatment and the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.
Leadership Denies Back-Channel Talks With Government
PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja said he had no knowledge of any contacts between the party and the government. “To my knowledge, there is no back channel operating,” he said.
Raja added that Imran Khan had authorized Mahmood Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas to negotiate on his behalf, a move that suggests the party’s founder retains a direct role in steering any potential dialogue.
