Punjab Forms High-Level Committee for Legal Reforms

The Government of Punjab has taken a decisive step towards strengthening provincial governance by constituting a high-level reforms committee. The move, formalized through an official notification, aims to drive comprehensive legal and administrative improvements across the region.

Leadership and Key Appointments

At the helm of this initiative is Advocate General Punjab, Barrister Zafarullah Khan, who has been designated as both the chairman and convener of the Reforms Committee. The committee brings together the province’s top bureaucratic and law enforcement leadership, including the Senior Member of the Board of Revenue, the Inspector General of Punjab Police, and the Secretary of Law.

Mandate and Operational Structure

The committee is tasked with a critical mission: to prepare actionable recommendations on legal and administrative reforms. These proposals will be submitted directly to the Chief Minister of Punjab through the Chief Secretary. To ensure the agenda is executed efficiently, the government has also decided to establish a dedicated Reforms Cell within the office of the Advocate General Punjab. The administrative and logistical framework for this cell will be finalized in consultation with the Chief Secretary.

According to the official notification, the core objective is to develop practical proposals specifically designed to enhance Punjab’s legal, administrative, and governance systems. This centralized approach signals a concentrated effort to streamline decision-making and improve public service delivery across the province.
