Over 36,500 Undocumented Foreigners Deported from Punjab

The Punjab Police have announced a significant milestone in their ongoing campaign against illegal residency, confirming the deportation of more than 36,500 undocumented foreign nationals from the province. The operation, which has been accelerating across all districts including the provincial capital Lahore, targets individuals residing in Pakistan without valid legal permission.

Demographic Breakdown of Deportees

A spokesperson for the Punjab Police provided a detailed statistical breakdown of the repatriated individuals, revealing a substantial number of families among the deportees. The official data categorizes the 36,545 deported individuals as follows:

  • Men: 14,614
  • Women:
  • Children: 14,697

Authorities further classified the legal status these individuals held prior to deportation. The data indicates that 11,124 deportees possessed Proof of Registration (PoR) documents, while 11,137 were holders of Afghan Citizen Cards. The largest segment, comprising 14,284 people, was identified as having no legal documentation whatsoever, categorizing them purely as illegal foreign residents.

Ongoing Custody and Procedural Compliance

While the mass deportation is underway, the process is not yet complete. Police reports confirm that an additional 504 foreign nationals are currently detained at designated holding points across Punjab. These individuals are awaiting final verification and processing before their eventual repatriation.

Punjab Inspector General of Police, Abdul Karim, addressed the procedural integrity of the operation. He emphasized that comprehensive security measures have been reinforced province-wide to facilitate the smooth conclusion of the deportation drive. “Punjab Police is implementing the policy for the removal of undocumented foreign nationals in strict accordance with international laws and procedures,” the IGP stated, underscoring a commitment to a regulated and humane process.
