No Plan for New Provinces, Says Rana Sanaullah

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah stated on Tuesday that there is no proposal to create new provinces on the government’s agenda. He maintained that Pakistan’s existing parliamentary system and the 1973 Constitution remain effective and intact.

AJK Elections Declared Free and Fair

Speaking to a private television channel, the senior PML-N leader described the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections as free and fair. He claimed the party secured public support due to its governance and development record Punjab. He accused the Pakistan Peoples Party of entering the second phase of the elections with a propaganda campaign, expressing confidence that the PML-N would perform strongly and eventually form the government in Azad Kashmir without coalition.

Commenting on PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s criticism of the electoral process, Rana Sanaullah said Bilawal was well aware that the elections had been conducted fairly. He predicted the PPP would accept the results after the final phase of polling.

Constitutional System Defended

Responding to questions about proposals for creating new provinces, Rana Sanaullah clarified that the PML-N had not held any meeting to discuss such a move and that the issue was not under consideration. He argued that there is no flaw in Pakistan’s parliamentary democratic system or the 1973 Constitution.

He highlighted that the constitutional framework has kept the federation intact despite crises, military interventions, and periods of instability over the past five decades. Rana Sanaullah added that the real issue is not the system itself but the failure to implement the Constitution in its true spirit. He asserted that the existing system would continue to deliver if constitutional principles were fully upheld.
