A 21-year-old auxiliary police officer from the Rouen police station in Seine-Maritime has been indicted on charges including the rape of a minor and possession of child pornography, according to the Rouen public prosecutor. The suspect was placed in provisional detention on August 9, following his arrest two days earlier at his grandmother’s home in Amiens.
Parents’ Geolocation Alert Leads to Arrest
The investigation began when the parents of the 14-year-old victim, who is also from Amiens, alerted authorities after using geolocation to track their son’s phone. Officers arrived at the grandmother’s residence on August 7 and found the young police officer alone in a room with the teenager, according to local media reports.
Prosecutor Sébastien Gallois confirmed to Le Parisien that the suspect and the victim had initially made contact “via a social network typically used by gamers.” The officer was immediately taken into custody and later indicted on multiple charges.
Detailed Charges Filed Against Officer
The formal charges include:
- Rape of a minor under 15 with an age difference of at least five years
- Inciting a minor to use illegal drugs
- Making a sexual proposal followed by an actual meeting
- Corruption of a minor under 15
- Possession of child pornography images
Prior Allegations and Administrative Response
The officer had previously been assigned to the Elbeuf police station before transferring to Rouen. He had also been named in an earlier case involving alleged rape of a minor and distribution of sexual images, but that case was dismissed in May 2026. “The facts were absolutely not established in that procedure,” Gallois stated.
The suspect has been suspended from his duties, and his contract will not be renewed, according to the prosecutor. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the case.
