In an ambitious move to transform Saint-Denis into a key attraction within the Île-de-France region, Mayor Mathieu Hanotin has launched the construction phase of the “Lumière Playel” project. This significant development initiative aims to build 480 residential units, marking a pivotal step in the area’s urban renewal.
Mayor Hanotin envisions Saint-Denis as a vibrant hub, redefining its landscape to attract both local and international visitors. The Playel district is set to undergo a comprehensive revamp, with plans to add 2,000 to 3,000 new hotel rooms to complement the existing 1,000. In addition to accommodation, the project promises to enhance the area’s appeal through an array of urban, sports, and cultural activities.
The project had encountered delays due to legal obstacles, but the commencement of construction has marked a new milestone for “Lumière Playel.” Originally, the project gained recognition by winning a 2017 competition under the “Grand Paris Métropole” for architectural and urban planning excellence. The development seeks to equip Saint-Denis with modern amenities, positioning it as an attractive destination for tourists globally.
Upon completion, the district will offer more than just residential solutions; it aims to be a cultural and entertainment hotspot. This progress indicates a promising future for Saint-Denis as it emerges as a significant urban center, appealing to both locals and international visitors alike.
