Dubai Sourcing Claims Spark Buzz and Skepticism
In a move that could spoil Samsung’s official launch plans, tech influencer Sahil Karoul has published videos purporting to show a fully functional Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. The YouTuber claims to have purchased the unreleased flagship smartphone for $3,300 on a parallel market in Dubai, well above its anticipated retail price.
The videos, shared on February 22, 2026, feature an unboxing and showcase the device in a white finish. Karoul conducted several comparison tests against rivals like the iPhone 17 Pro Max, putting the phone’s performance and display through its paces.
The Spotlight on the Rumored “Privacy Display”
The leak’s central claim is the debut of a new “Privacy Display.” The technology is described as making the screen content nearly invisible to anyone not viewing it head-on, aiming to protect user privacy in public spaces.
According to the footage, this is not a standard privacy filter. Instead, it is suggested to be a new generation of OLED where pixels can direct light. This would allow selective obscuring of specific screen areas—like notifications or password fields—from lateral views, while the rest of the display remains clearly visible.
Authenticity Questions and Other Details
The leak has been met with mixed reactions. The visual effect of the Privacy Display in the video has drawn comparisons to older TN panel technology, which could suggest a less refined implementation than expected. However, a camera recording may not accurately reflect the real-life viewing experience.
Other details noted in the video include the presence of an S Pen, which is shown to lack Bluetooth functionality—a feature removed since the S25 Ultra—limiting it to writing, drawing, and navigation. A minor design quirk shows the stylus protruding slightly when inserted backwards into its slot.
While the leak appears credible to some observers, caution is advised. Sahil Karoul has a reputation for publishing AI-generated content, casting doubt on the video’s authenticity. Samsung’s official unveiling of the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected at its Galaxy Unpacked event on February 25, 2026.
