RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense has issued an early warning for several cities and regions across the Kingdom through the National Early Warning Platform, urging citizens and residents to take immediate safety precautions.
The alert covers Jeddah, Khamis Mushait, Yanbu, Taif, Abha and the Jazan region, and warns of a potential emergency. Authorities called on the public to follow official safety instructions without delay.
Residents Told to Shelter Indoors
In its advisory, the Civil Defense urged people to remain calm and move immediately to the nearest safe location inside a building, preferably an interior room away from windows. Residents were instructed to stay indoors until authorities confirm that the danger has passed, and not to leave their homes or buildings while the alert remains in effect.
Safety Guidelines During the Warning
Authorities set out a series of precautions for the public:
- Avoid open areas, windows, glass structures, balconies and rooftops.
- Those outdoors should enter the nearest building or take shelter behind a solid barrier.
- Do not gather, take photographs or approach hazardous locations after receiving the warning.
- Drivers who receive the alert while travelling should pull over safely, away from bridges and tall buildings.
Emergency Numbers
The Civil Defense said residents in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province should call 911 in case of danger. For other areas of the Kingdom, the emergency number is 998.
The warning remains active, and authorities continue to monitor the situation.
