SNCF opened ticket sales on Wednesday, September 30, for TGV Inoui, Ouigo and Intercités trains covering the year-end holidays, promising extra capacity toward eastern France and the Alps as millions of travelers plan their Christmas and New Year trips.
Travelers can now book TGV Inoui and Intercités tickets for journeys between December 13, 2026, and January 6, 2027. For Ouigo, the booking window extends even further, covering travel from December 13, 2026, through July 2, 2027.
Extra Capacity for Christmas Market Routes
In a statement released Monday, the rail operator said several routes have been significantly reinforced for the festive season. An additional 36,000 seats per week will serve the Christmas markets of Strasbourg and Colmar between November 26 and December 23.
The increase is most pronounced on services from Paris, with 25,000 extra seats toward Strasbourg and 10 additional trains per week to Colmar. A further 11,000 seats per week are planned from Nantes, Rennes, Bordeaux, Marseille, Montpellier and Lyon to Strasbourg, with no connections required.
Nearly 300,000 Seats to the Alps
The Alps, another favorite destination during the year-end holidays, will see close to 300,000 seats offered during the Christmas break, according to SNCF, in a bid to meet strong demand from travelers heading to mountain resorts. Six additional TGVs will run on weekends between Paris Gare de Lyon and Bourg-Saint-Maurice, starting November 27 and throughout the holiday period.
The Paris-Lyon line will also be reinforced with a third Ouigo round trip from December 13, operating Friday through Monday.
International Routes Also Expanded
Destinations in other European countries, including Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium, are part of the same major sales release, covering services from December 13 through March 31.
SNCF highlighted an “enriched offer” toward Germany, with a sixth daily round trip on the Paris-Stuttgart line, which also serves Strasbourg and Karlsruhe, and an additional weekend round trip between Paris and Munich. A fourth daily round trip is also planned from December 13 on the Paris-Brussels line.
