A significant development has emerged in the Raiwind murder case as another suspect has been apprehended, according to the victims’ legal representative. The ongoing investigation pertains to the brutal assault on two brothers by street vendors, a grim incident that was widely circulated on social media, capturing national attention.
The disturbing footage depicted street vendors savagely attacking the two brothers with clubs on a public road in Raiwind. The video, which showed the victims lying in a pool of blood as bystanders watched, has spurred public outrage. One of the brothers died on the spot due to severe injuries, while the other succumbed to his wounds on Sunday.
Authorities have been actively pursuing those involved, and on Tuesday, the principal suspect was detained and transferred to the Crime Control Department. The lawyer for the victims’ family, Ali Ahmed Awan, revealed that the suspect, who had evaded capture by fleeing to Sahiwal, was tracked and arrested with the aid of advanced technology.
Awan commended the police efforts and confirmed that three suspects have been detained thus far, with three others still at large. “The police have shown exemplary cooperation in apprehending the suspects, and further raids are planned to capture the remaining individuals,” he stated. “Justice demands that all those responsible be brought to account.”
The incident, documented under several charges including murder, was officially recorded when the victims’ father lodged a complaint on August 22. The tragic event unfolded on August 21 over a monetary disagreement involving a fruit purchase, escalating to a fatal confrontation.
This case has echoed similar events, reminiscent of a June incident in Karachi where police arrested multiple suspects after another violent encounter was shared online, prompting swift action from authorities.
As the investigation continues, the public remains watchful for justice to prevail in the wake of this tragic and senseless violence.
