Pop superstar Taylor Swift has expanded her 2025 blockbuster album with four additional songs, releasing “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore” at midnight US Eastern Daylight Time on Friday.
The expanded edition is anchored by the single “Patient Zero,” a track exploring the dynamics of a toxic relationship. A music video for the song is scheduled to premiere Sunday during MTV’s Video Music Awards, where Swift will receive the inaugural artist director trophy. Actors Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson appear in the video.
“If you’re sick of him, I’ve got you. I was patient zero,” Swift sings on the track.
New Songs Include Nod to Kelce’s Hometown
Among the other new additions is “Cleveland!,” a reference to the hometown of Swift’s husband, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce. “My baby likes what he likes,” she sings. “He already took me to Cleveland.” The couple married in July after a three-year romance.
Swift said she wrote the new tracks during a trip to Sweden, where she celebrated the success of “Showgirl” with producers Max Martin and Shellback.
A Record-Breaking Rollout
“Showgirl” shattered multiple records upon its release in October 2025. It became the first album in history in which all 12 of its songs landed in the Billboard top 12 simultaneously. Its first week set a sales record for the modern music era, measured by album sales and streams.
The encore edition arrives as Swift continues to dominate both the charts and the cultural conversation, with the VMAs performance set to extend the album’s momentum into the awards season.
