RAWALPINDI – Pakistani security forces killed ten militants affiliated with the so-called “Fitna-Al-Khwarij” group, which officials describe as an Indian proxy, during two separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The engagements occurred in the South Waziristan and Dir districts, marking a significant blow to terrorist networks operating in the region.
Militants Thwarted in Coordinated Attacks
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the first clash erupted when a group of terrorists attempted to storm security check posts in the general area of Azam Warsak, South Waziristan District. Troops effectively repelled the assault, and in the ensuing exchange of fire, eight militants were killed through precise and effective engagements.
In a separate operation in Dir District, security forces successfully neutralized two additional terrorists. The ISPR confirmed that the slain militants were actively involved in numerous terrorist activities targeting security forces and innocent civilians in the area.
Weapons Recovered and Sanitization Underway
Following the operations, troops recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from the killed militants. Clearance and sanitization operations are currently underway to eliminate any remaining threats in the vicinity, ensuring no other militants are hiding in the area.
The military’s media wing reiterated that the relentless counter-terrorism campaign, operating under the national vision “Azm-e-Istehkam” as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace. The goal remains the complete eradication of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
National Leadership Salutes Armed Forces
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid rich tribute to the security forces for their successful operations. In separate statements, both leaders reaffirmed the nation’s unwavering support and pride in the sacrifices of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies.
President Zardari praised the professional expertise of the troops for thwarting the terrorist attack in Azam Warsak, stating that the entire nation stands firmly behind its brave forces. Prime Minister Shehbaz, speaking during his official visit to Saudi Arabia, declared that anti-terror actions under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam would persist with full resolve until terrorism is completely eliminated. He emphasized that the government and the nation stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the security forces in the ongoing war against terrorism.
