Three young men, aged 18, 21, and 22, have been arrested by police in Barcelona’s Les Corts district following an alleged gang sexual assault. The incident occurred early Thursday morning on Numància Street, where a woman reported to authorities that she had been sexually assaulted by the trio.
According to the victim’s statement, she had gone to a residence with one of the suspects for consensual relations. However, once inside, two other individuals allegedly joined in, forcing her into non-consensual acts with all three men. The woman reported the assault to police, prompting immediate action by the Catalan police force, Mossos d’Esquadra.
The victim was taken to Barcelona’s Clínic Hospital for a medical examination, where forensic evidence is being collected. Authorities confirmed that the three suspects are in custody at the Les Corts police station and will be brought before a judge.
Preliminary investigations suggest the assault took place in a temporary lodging or short-stay hotel. Police sources revealed that the woman had initially connected with one of the suspects through a dating application, but the situation escalated into a violent attack. Investigators are now examining whether the assault was premeditated.
In a statement, police emphasized the priority of protecting the victim’s identity and well-being. The woman has been provided with immediate medical and psychological support, while the investigation into the case continues.
This incident has reignited concerns over sexual violence in Barcelona, highlighting the need for heightened awareness and preventive measures. The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to ensure justice for the victim.
