ISLAMABAD: A local court in the federal capital sentenced Umar Hayat, the man convicted of murdering teenage TikTok star Sana Yousaf, to an additional two years in prison on Wednesday. The sentence was handed down in a separate arms case linked to the high-profile killing.
Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka delivered the verdict under Section 13 of the Pakistan Arms Ordinance. The court also imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on the convict, with a stern warning that failure to pay would result in an extra month of imprisonment.
Compounding Prison Time
This latest ruling pushes Hayat’s cumulative prison term to a total of 23 years and brings the aggregate fines levied against him to Rs2.6 million. The decision comes just one day after the same court sentenced Hayat to death for the murder of Yousaf and imposed a separate fine of Rs2 million.
The day before, Judge Majoka issued a two-page short order detailing multiple sentences. Under Section 392, Hayat received 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a Rs200,000 fine. For charges under Section 499, he was handed another 10-year term and an additional Rs200,000 fine. A further one-year sentence and a Rs100,000 fine were imposed under Section 411. Combining those penalties with the death sentence, the court had initially awarded a cumulative 21-year prison term alongside fines totaling Rs2.5 million, prior to Wednesday’s arms case verdict.
The Murder of a Teenage Star
Sana Yousaf was killed at her home in Islamabad on June 2, 2025. She had celebrated her 17th birthday just a week before her death.
