Van Plunge in Kasur Claims Eight Lives, Injures Two In…

In a tragic accident in Kasur, eight individuals lost their lives while two others sustained injuries when a van plunged into a drainage channel. The incident occurred as the group was returning from a wedding, according to police reports on Friday.

The Station House Officer (SHO) Ghulam Sabir confirmed that the vehicle, a carry box van, veered off the road into a drain near Raiwind. Rescue services rushed the injured to Baba Bulleh Shah Hospital in Kasur, where they are currently being treated.

Authorities have detained the van’s driver, who is facing charges related to the accident. The police have filed a first information report (FIR) against the driver, citing drowsiness and excessive speed as contributing factors to the crash.

In a separate incident in Multan, three people died following the overturning of a loaded trailer, which collapsed onto a house, burying the residents beneath the debris. Rescue 1122 reported that the deceased included a 15-year-old girl, a 17-year-old boy, and their 40-year-old father.

The Multan accident occurred near the Railway Gate, where the trailer, laden with stones, lost its balance. The driver managed to escape, prompting a police search. Emergency teams, led by Officer Muhammad Bilal, conducted rescue operations, and the bodies were transferred to Nishtar Hospital for further procedures.

Both incidents serve as a stark reminder of the dangers of road travel and the need for stringent enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies.
