KSE-100 Falls Over 600 Points After Tuesday's Rally

The Pakistan Stock Exchange opened Wednesday’s session under selling pressure, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index surrendering more than 600 points in early trading, a sharp reversal from the previous session’s strong gains.

Index Retreats to 168,732

At the start of the third trading session of the week, the KSE-100 Index declined by over 600 points to reach 168,732, erasing a portion of the ground recovered a day earlier.

Tuesday’s session had closed on a bullish note, with the benchmark index gaining 1,421.67 points — a positive change of 0.85 percent — to settle at 169,392.33 against 167,970.66 in the preceding session.

Volume and Value Slip

Trading activity in the ready market also moderated. The session recorded a turnover of 372.016 million shares, down from 570.472 million shares traded previously, while traded value fell to Rs17.210 billion from Rs24.672 billion.

  • KSE-100 Index: down over 600 points to 168,732 in early trade
  • Previous close: 169,392.33, up 1,421.67 points (0.85 percent)
  • Ready market volume: 372.016 million shares vs 570.472 million
  • Traded value: Rs17.210 billion vs Rs24.672 billion
  • Market capitalisation: rose to Rs18.857 trillion from Rs18.728 trillion

Market Capitalisation Edges Higher

Despite the index pullback, market capitalisation increased to Rs18.857 trillion from Rs18.728 trillion recorded a day earlier, according to data from the prior session.

The pullback underscores the volatility persisting at the bourse, where the index has alternated between sharp gains and declines within the same week.
