A body was pulled from the Seine River in Charenton-le-Pont, Val-de-Marne, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, prompting authorities to launch an investigation to determine the cause of death.
This grim discovery follows just two weeks after the shocking retrieval of four bodies from the Seine in Choisy-le-Roi. The latest body was found floating near Charenton-le-Pont, as confirmed by authorities in Créteil. The local law enforcement agency has begun an investigation into the circumstances of the death.
The body was discovered around 1 PM by a river patrol team near the Charenton quay. The victim, currently unidentified, is a male of unknown age. Officials have initiated an autopsy and toxicological analysis to clarify the cause of death. Preliminary observations indicate no immediate signs of violence.
Authorities have stated that this recent discovery does not appear to be connected to the incident in Choisy-le-Roi, where four bodies, some showing signs of violence, were found mid-August. A man in his twenties, Monji H., has been arrested in connection with that case and faces charges of murder. Despite the proximity in time and location, no links have been established between the two incidents, according to the Créteil prosecutor’s office.
