A Mysterious Blast Echoes Through the Streets
A quiet evening in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine was shattered on Tuesday by a baffling underground explosion. Shortly after 8:30 p.m., residents of Rue Désiré Clément in the Chennevières district alerted firefighters after a loud detonation erupted from three manhole covers. Witnesses immediately suspected malicious intent, describing a group of individuals in the vicinity before the blast.
First responders arrived to a scene devoid of the usual signs of a gas leak. There was no distinct odor of gas, and crucially, no visible damage to the street surface. This anomaly quickly shifted the investigation’s focus. An unconfirmed theory circulating among local sources suggests that gasoline may have been poured into the sewer network and deliberately ignited, though official sources have not validated this hypothesis. As of now, the definitive origin of the explosion remains undetermined.
Search for Suspects Turns Violent
The situation escalated when police units, dispatched to track down the individuals seen fleeing, attempted to make arrests. The effort to apprehend the suspects quickly degenerated into chaos. A scuffle broke out, with several individuals rebelling violently against the officers. In the ensuing confrontation, two policemen, aged 22 and 33, sustained minor injuries.
