The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the prize money for the 2025 Champions Trophy, marking a substantial 53% increase compared to the previous edition. According to the ICC’s announcement, a total prize pool of $6.9 million has been allocated for the tournament. The victorious team will receive $2.24 million, while the runners-up will be awarded $1.12 million. Teams reaching the semi-finals will each secure $560,000. Additionally, each victory during the group stage will earn teams $34,000. Teams finishing in fifth and sixth positions will receive $350,000, whereas those in seventh and eighth places will be granted $140,000. Each participating team is set to receive $125,000 for their involvement in the tournament.
The ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place from February 19 to March 9, 2025, in Pakistan. This event marks the first ICC tournament to be held in Pakistan since 1996. Matches will be hosted in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, while the Indian team will play its matches in Dubai. The tournament will feature eight teams divided into two groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
Pakistan’s captain, Sarfraz Ahmed, has acknowledged the pressure on the home team, particularly as they enter the competition as defending champions with high expectations from fans. Ahmed has also speculated on the potential semi-finalists. The ICC’s decision to increase the prize money aims to further ignite enthusiasm among cricket fans worldwide.
