TEHRAN – Iranian officials have firmly denied reports suggesting an agreement to extend a ceasefire with the United States, stating that no negotiations are currently taking place regarding the truce’s continuation.
A senior Iranian official, speaking on condition of anonymity to an international news agency, dismissed the notion of an extended ceasefire as premature. The official explained that since no formal start date for the ceasefire had ever been scheduled, the question of extending it was fundamentally irrelevant.
The denial comes amid swirling speculation about the status of diplomatic efforts between the two nations. The official went further, accusing Washington of breaching the terms of the original understanding just 48 hours after it was reached. Tehran is now calling on the United States to honor its commitments under the existing memorandum of understanding.

However, the Iranian official was unequivocal about the lack of progress, stating, “There has been no progress so far” regarding the ceasefire’s status.
