PESHAWAR — Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Lakki Marwat killed a wanted terrorist commander during a joint operation, authorities said, striking back against militants linked to a deadly attack on security personnel a day earlier.
Commander Was Wanted in Multiple Cases
According to the City Police Officer (CPO), the slain commander, identified as Manzoor, was wanted in several terrorism cases and in attacks targeting civilians. Security personnel killed him during the operation and took his body into custody.
Operation Followed Deadly Ambush
The raid was launched against suspects allegedly involved in an attack on players returning from a match in the Abdul Khel area. That assault, which took place a day earlier, left three soldiers dead and three others injured, according to police.
Search Operation Continues
Police said a search operation is continuing in the area to locate other suspects allegedly involved in terrorist activities.
- Manzoor was wanted in multiple terrorism cases and attacks on civilians.
