RAWALPINDI — Pakistan and the Maldives have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with senior military and parliamentary officials meeting at General Headquarters to discuss regional security and expanded cooperation.
Speaker of the People’s Majlis of the Maldives Abdul Raheem Abdullah visited GHQ, where he met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Mutual Interests and Regional Security on the Agenda
During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics and avenues for bilateral cooperation, the military’s media wing said.
Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed the importance Pakistan attaches to its fraternal ties with the Maldives and expressed a commitment to further strengthening relations based on shared interests.
Abdul Raheem Abdullah, in turn, appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability.
Shared Desire to Expand Cooperation
The ISPR said the meeting underscored the desire of both sides to further strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
