Pakistan and Denmark convened the fifth round of their Bilateral Political Consultations in Copenhagen, with both sides undertaking a comprehensive review of their relationship and reaffirming their commitment to expanding cooperation across a range of shared priorities.
Delegations Led by Senior Diplomats
The Pakistani delegation was led by Ambassador Ayesha Ali, Additional Secretary for Europe, while Ambassador Susanne Hyldelund, State Secretary for Trade and Investments, headed the Danish side.
Broad Review of Bilateral Relations
The consultations covered the full spectrum of the bilateral relationship. According to officials, the discussions spanned:
- Political engagement between the two countries
- Trade and investment ties
- Green transition and energy cooperation
- People-to-people contacts
- Consular matters
- Multilateral cooperation
Both delegations expressed satisfaction at the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Green Framework Engagement and Strategic Sector Cooperation
Pakistan appreciated Denmark’s continued cooperation under the Green Framework Engagement Agreement and the Strategic Sector Cooperation, including the Faisalabad Wastewater Treatment Plant, a flagship project reflecting Danish technical and financial support for sustainable infrastructure in Pakistan.
Commitment to Sustained Engagement
The two sides agreed to maintain the momentum of bilateral engagement and to continue close coordination on matters of mutual interest.
The consultations underscore the growing breadth of Pakistan-Denmark relations, extending beyond traditional diplomacy into trade, energy transition and sustainable development cooperation.
