In a dramatic court case unfolding on Monday, September 1, 2025, in Paris, four individuals stand trial for a daring but botched robbery of a jewelry store. The heist, which involved a woman serving as bait to seduce the store manager, quickly spiraled into chaos, resulting in their arrest.
The incident dates back to June 30, 2022, when a woman in her thirties entered a jewelry store on Rue Monge in Paris’s 5th arrondissement, using charm and flirtation as her primary tools. Initially posing as a prospective buyer, she sweet-talked the manager into an intimate encounter in the store’s back room, leaving with a pair of gold earrings as a gift.
Her ruse continued on July 13, 2022, when she returned, this time bearing a bottle of whisky, persuading the manager to close the store so they could indulge in a drink together. Unbeknownst to him, the whisky was laced with Doxylamine, a sedative. As the manager fell into a stupor, the woman seized the keys to the store’s safe.
The situation escalated when the manager awoke and realized what had happened. Confronting the woman resulted in a physical altercation, during which she brandished a gun and threatened him. Despite the threat, the manager attempted to defend himself and managed to disarm her by removing the gun’s magazine.
Just as he tried to escape, two male accomplices entered the store, pushed the manager back inside, and began looting jewelry and watches worth approximately €100,000. However, unbeknownst to the raiders, their entire act was being observed via surveillance by a colleague, who promptly alerted the authorities. The police arrived swiftly, capturing the trio inside the store.
Further investigations uncovered the role of a man known as “Moha”, suspected to be the mastermind behind the operation. Messages found on his phone revealed his plans for the heist and detailed instructions provided to his accomplices. Although “Moha” claimed he backed out due to fear, evidence suggests his involvement in orchestrating the crime.
With a fifth individual allegedly enlisted to destroy the getaway vehicle, a total of five people are now facing trial. However, the hearing may face delays as the woman, believed to have acted as bait, has recently been hospitalized, prompting the court to decide whether to postpone or separate the case proceedings.
This tale of seduction, deception, and crime unfolds in a Parisian courtroom, reminding us that in the world of robbery, not all plans go smoothly.
