Judicial Investigation Opened
Three of four men arrested earlier this week have been formally charged in connection with the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl in the restroom of a KFC restaurant in central Paris, a judicial source told AFP on Sunday. The fourth individual has been placed under the status of an assisted witness.
Specific Charges Detailed
The suspects face distinct charges related to the incident. One man has been charged with rape of a minor under 15. A second has been charged with attempted rape of a minor under 15. The third has been charged with failure to assist a minor in danger. All four individuals involved have been placed under judicial supervision.
Sequence of Events
The alleged assault occurred on Monday evening in the bustling Châtelet-Les Halles district. According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, the teenage victim began the evening with a friend and a group of people near a McDonald’s restaurant. After a police identity check in the area, the friend remained with officers while the victim followed the group to the nearby KFC.
It was there, prosecutors stated, that the girl reported being forced into sexual acts by four men from the group in the restaurant’s restroom. Following her report, police officers on patrol located and arrested four individuals from a group still present in the Forum des Halles shopping center based on the victim’s identification.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about safety in the popular central Paris district, which has recently been the subject of public debate regarding increasing insecurity after dark.
