In a significant move for the automotive industry, French automaker Renault Group and American giant Ford Motor Company announced a strategic partnership on Tuesday. The core of the agreement involves developing two Ford-branded electric vehicles using a Renault platform, with production slated for northern France.
Expanding Collaboration to Commercial Vehicles
The two groups have also signed a letter of intent to explore cooperation in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) sector across Europe. The joint statement indicates they are considering the possibility of jointly developing and manufacturing certain Renault and Ford LCV models in the future.
This partnership aligns with Ford’s ambitious goal of having its entire passenger vehicle range in Europe be all-electric by 2030.
