Sahibzada Farhan Wins ICC Player of the Month After Record Run

Sahibzada Farhan Wins ICC Player of the Month After Record Run

Pakistan opening batter Sahibzada Farhan has been awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2026, capping a record-shattering performance at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka.

A Tournament-Defining Performance

Farhan finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer, amassing 383 runs in just seven matches at a staggering average of 76.60. His explosive strike rate of 160.25 was instrumental in Pakistan’s campaign. The 29-year-old right-hander broke a longstanding record, surpassing Virat Kohli’s mark for the most runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.

Making History with the Bat

Farhan’s month was highlighted by unprecedented achievements. He became the first batter in history to score two centuries in a single T20 World Cup, reaching three figures against both Namibia and co-hosts Sri Lanka. His 100 not out against Sri Lanka in Pallekele also propelled him to a career-high second place in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings.

“It’s an incredible feeling to win this ICC award, especially for performances on the World Cup stage, where fans from all over the world are watching every moment. That makes it even more special,” Farhan stated upon receiving the honor.

Team Effort and Future Momentum

Despite his individual brilliance, Farhan was quick to credit the team. He was part of a record 176-run partnership with Fakhar Zaman, the highest for any wicket in T20 Internationals. Although Pakistan secured a five-run victory over Sri Lanka in that match, they narrowly missed a semi-final berth due to net run rate.

“I’m deeply grateful to my teammates for their constant support and belief in me – this wouldn’t have been possible without them,” Farhan added. “It was truly a tournament I’ll always cherish, and I’m determined to carry this momentum forward.”

A Landmark Recognition

This award marks the first time Farhan has won the monthly ICC accolade. He is the first male Pakistan player to receive it since Haris Rauf in November 2024. His consistent scores of 47, 73, 0, 100, DNB, 63, and 100* throughout the World Cup also earned him a spot in the official ICC Team of the Tournament.

Farhan’s February 2026 campaign has solidified his status as one of the most formidable openers in the modern T20 game, setting a new benchmark for performance on cricket’s biggest stage.
